India, Russia to discuss
Iraq conflict
New Delhi, March 25, IRNA -- India and Russia will hold discussions in
Moscow on Thursday on the situation arising from the US-led invasion
of Iraq and chalk out a common position on the crisis.
India's Foreign Secretary, Kanwal Sibal, is leaving here for the
Russian capital on Wednesday for a meeting of the Joint Working Group
(JWG) on Afghanistan.
The visit would also provide him an opportunity to discuss other
major international issues with the Russian leadership, including the
situation in the Persian Gulf and the killings of innocent Kashmiri
Pandits in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sibal is expected to meet Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov
besides holding parleys with his counterpart Vyacheslav Trubnikov,
Russian First Deputy foreign Minister.
Ivanov had telephoned India's External Affairs Minister Yashwant
Sinha on Sunday and discussed the humanitarian consequences of the
Iraq crisis.
